Good afternoon readers, check out my post of the week!
These are some reasons why being single is awesome– and maybe in some ways that you have not thought about. Click link below, enjoy and share 🙂
Being in a committed and happy relationship is great, but when you have not met that special person yet, it is important to make the best out of your single life. Just based off biology alone, we as humans crave human interaction and relationships. That craving for someone to hold on a rainy day when you are watching Netflix in bed is completely natural. However, it is important to distinguish the feeling of wanting someone there because you are lonely, and wanting someone there because you genuinely enjoy their company.
What I’m trying to say is that if you have not found someone special yet, it is better to embrace being single because it does have its perks! Being single is a time to have fun and do your due amount of self-reflecting. These are some reasons why being single is awesome– and maybe in some ways that you have not thought about.
1. You know no one is cheating on you.
2. Talking to someone new is always fun and exciting.
When you are with someone for so long, conversation can get boring and repetitive. Meeting someone new, and then going on dates keeps your life exciting. That euphoric but nervous feeling you get when you are picking out your outfit and getting ready is one of the perks that comes with being young and single.
3. You don’t have to waste money on birthdays or anniversaries.
On a college budget, having a boyfriend or girlfriend is tough because you are expected to shoot out expensive gifts on special occasions. Some college kids don’t even work so they have to ask their parents for money in order to buy that special person something. Those that work, are probably going to have to take a chunk of their minimum wage paycheck and use it towards gifts. Being single saves these troubles, and you can spend that money on more important things like getting cookies delivered at 3AM.
4. Less distractions from school and gym.
When you are single, you can focus all of your energy on having good grades and a good body. When you are in a relationship, you have to worry about the possibility of little fights ruining your mood and thus you might think about not doing an assignment, or skipping the gym that day. Ultimately, we should be focusing on our own goals instead of letting someone distract us.
5. Never have to worry that you’re wasting away your youth.
As college students, we are so young and have the rest of our lives to fall in and out of love. If a relationship comes your way then enjoy it, but in the meantime enjoy your youth and do things that you might not be able to do in 15 years when you have a career, four kids, and bills to pay.
